It's being staged in Spalding on 28th and 29th November 2009. The shows also gives the children the opportunity to work with some professional actors and actresses direct from London's West End! The children have all worked extremely hard and deserve a capacity audience to perform to. |

We are writing to offer you an exciting workshop running through the half term holidays called FUNKENSTEIN! The four day workshop is based on the life of Frankenstein with pulsating 70's tunes and ends with a dance performance on the equipment at the Fun Farm. Not only will you be learning funky choreography and new acting skills by a professional tutor but the workshop also includes 2 master classes: one in make-up and another in costume design. So the end performance will be performed in the scary, Halloween based costumes and make up that you will have been working on throughout the four days. The workshop will run from the 27th-30th October from 9.30 until 4.30 and there are only 25 spaces available. The cost of the workshop is £60 which includes 2 tickets for the eprformance at Fun Farms Live Show and Walk of Screams. Would you like to be part of this year's professional pantomime PETER PAN produced by Polka Dot? Maybe you came to see ALADDIN, SNOW WHITE or CINDERELLA and were aching to get on the stage and give it your all! Come along to the auditions and see if this could be your year to shine! For the run of the eprformances there will be professional principal actors and three casts of children's chorus. The three children's casts will alternate performances. This is your chance to perform in front of thousands of people - an amazing experience you won't want to miss. This year we are looking for the following young people aged 8 - 18:
Auditions will take place on Sunday 20th September at the Polka Dot Academy from 1pm - 4pm. Children must be no younger than 8 by September 1st 2009. Parents will be asked to sign their child in and return to collect them at their given time. NO PARENTS will be allowed into the auditions whilst they are taking place. If you wish to audition, you must fill in a form which can be collected from reception, and bring it with you on the day. The form will also require you to attach a recent photograph... passport style is probably best. Please note you will not need to bring any audition material with you on the day as it will be provided by Polka Dot. This ensures that everyone is auditioned fairly from the same material. | DISNEYLANDERS | 20/08/2009 |
Well done to everyone who went to Disneyland, Paris. The entire experience was wonderful, and the teamwork, co-operation and enthusiasm displayed by children and adults was exceptional. Hopefully you are all fully recovered and revitalised, it was a tiring but rewarding experience that we will all remember with great fondness. If you have any photos or video footage of the trip please bring copies into the Academy so that we can display our memories, and show the other Academy users how magical our stay was. As one adventure finishes, another one begins and we are now planning where to dance in the world next year. Ideas so far include a trip to Disneyland, Florida and a trip to New York. If you have any suggestions please contact us - all ideas are gratefully received. In September our Disney dance classes will continue under the new name of World Dance Juniors. We will start working on our new routines ready to conquer the world, as well as preparing for a competition and festival. We would love to see you all come back in September so that we can continue to progress and develop the class with wonderfully talented and enthusiastic students. We do still have some dance scholarships left which you can take advantage of to reduce prices. Finally we would like to invite you all to perform the Disney Dirty Dancing routines during the final of Polka Dot Has Talent. The show is at 2.30pm on Sunday 6th September and we would like you to be our special guest act alongside Stavros Flatley. There will be a short rehearsal at the South Holland Centre at 1pm in the Function Hall, before showing South Holland how brilliant you all are. It is important that you are all able to attend to ensure that the performances is of the same exceptional standard as Disney, so we hope you will be able to make it. At present you all still have your costumes and shoes, so you can bring them with you on September 6th ready for the show. Please ensure that shirts and t-shirts have been washed and that all costumes look presentable. The same make up and hair should be worn, and we will provide new silver material for your hair. If you are unable to attend the performance please let us know so that Hilary can amend the show, but we really would appreciate you being able to perform! | Tickets are now on sale for the grand final of POLKA DOT HAS TALENT. We are absolutely delighted to announce that STAVROS FLATLEY will be a judge at our Grand Final which is to be staged at the South Holland Centre on Sunday September 6th at 2.30pm.
All tickets are priced at £15.00 and the event will culminate in a performance from Stavros Flatley. All final entrants will have the opportunity for photos and autogrpahs with Stavros Flatley.
There will also be a celebration event in the evening at 6.00pm - this is like a POLKA DOT HAS TALENT TOUR! - where a selection of entrants will be invited to come and perform in the theatre together with the winning act. The evening performance will also feature our special guest STAVROS FLATLEY. Once again, all tickets will cost £15.00.
All entrants from the semi-final, which is to be held at the Academy on Saturday 5th September, will be invited to perform in the celebration event on 6th September at 6.00pm.
ALL tickets are being sold at the Academy NOT at the South Holland Centre.

| It's the first round of the auditions this Saturday, so make sure you don't miss out and get your tickets quick! They are £3 each and are available at reception. The barabeque will be open from 5pm until 6pm and then again at the interval. Drinks will be available throughout the evening. All proceeds from the barbeque will go to S.P.O.T.S. We hope to see you there to support all our participants. |

| POLKA DOT HAS TALENT | 18/06/2009 |
We are giving the opportunity to showcase your skills in our very own Polka Dot Has Talent Competition! Whether you are a budding singer, actor, dancer, juggler, gymnast or have a unique talent that you can show off, we would be delighted for you to take part. Entries can be solo or groups and as long as you are a member of Limelight or attend any of our dance, drama or singing classes you are eligibale to enter. There will be two heats for the competition which will take place at the Polka Dot Academy on Saturday July 18th at 6pm and Saturday August 1st at 6pm. You will only need to attend one heat - whichever date suits you best. Parents and friends can attend the heats by purchasing tickets from reception for only £3 each. There will be a barbeque and refreshments available, rasing money for SPOTS, so each heat will be really sociable giving us the chance to see just how talented the students of Polka Dot are!! The chosen acts from the two heats will then attend the semi final, held at the Academy on Saturday September 5th at 6pm. There will be some special guest judges who you will definately recognise and a fantastic interval performance that you won't want to miss. Ten acts will then be chosen to perform again in the Polka Dot Has Talent Grand Final, to be held at the South Holland Centre on Sunday September 6th at 6pm. This show will also feature a well known act from ITV's Britain's Got Talent. There are some fantastic prizes awaiting the winning act including an amazing cash prize of £1000!!!! If you want to take part in Polka Dot Has Talent please collect an entry form from reception and return it to reception by Friday July 3rd. Please also write the name of your act on the entry list at reception, detailing which heat you want to attend, as there are a limited amount of places. You will need to organise any music for your act, although we will provide the sound system to play the music on. We have a maximum of four microphones that can be used in any act and you will be responsible for any props or costume that you might need. You may participate in a maximum of three acts. |

| POLKA DOT SCHOLARSHIPS | 18/06/2009 |
We are delighted to inform you that we have recently been successful in obtaining funding that will allow us to offer dance scholarships from September 2009. The funding aims to encourage children to participate in dance as a way of keeping fit, developing dance skills, making new friends, building confidence and having lots of fun in a safe and friendly environment. We are extremely proud to be the only dance school in South Lincolnshire to receive the funding and we are delighted that children in the local area will be able to benefit from this amazing scheme. We have 150 scholarships available which will be divided into 25 scholarships per dance style. The scholarships are available in Street Jazz, Ballet, Cheerleading, Tap, Hip-Hop and Disney, and are available to anyone aged 4-21. They are offered on a first come, first served basis. Each Scholarship is designed to encourage children to participate in dance for at least a year, although you can drop out of the scheme at anytime. You can choose to opt for a year or a two year scholarship. Anyone that wishes to take advantage of a scholarship will need to pay a one off joining fee of £20. If you take advantage of more than one scholarship you will still need to pay one joining fee. For a one year scholarship; the normal fees are £162.00, and the scholarship fee is £90.00, therefore you save £72.00!! For a two year scholarship, the normal fees are £324.00, and the scholarship fee is £135.00 therefore you save £189.00!! |

| POLKA DOT CHOIR | 21/05/2009 |
We will be running an exciting six week course aimed specically at developing singing technique within a group. The course will run every Tuesday from June 2nd - July 7th, 4.15pm-5.45pm and will be taught by Amber. The choir is an excellent addition if you already attend private singing lessons, or if you are a member of Shining Stars or Mega Stars. Anyone aged 8 or above can attend this class and Amber will help you with pitch, tuning, harmony and performance technique as you work on some fun and funky numbers. We have recently been awarded a substantial amount of funding for safety mats and a brand new Polka Dot Squad Uniform, so all children that join our classes now will have the opportunity to become part of our official squad and will wear the uniform at competitions and local events when we perform. Cheerleading is a great way for children to keep fit, build core strength, dance and have loads of fun, and at Polka Dot your child will make new friends and be part of South Holland's professional Performing Arts Academy. On saturday 6th June we are taking part in a bag pack at Sainsbury's Supermarket in Spalding. The event will run from 10am - 4pm and will be a great opportunity for us to raise money for future opportunites for children. Polka Dot Academy has been asked to run and manage 'Carnival 2009' which will be part of Spalding's Flower Parade event on Saturday May 2nd, 2009. It is a huge honour for us to be chosen to run this prestigious community celebration and we hope that you will want to participate in the biggest party of the year!! To ensure that the carnival is reminiscent of our huge success in 2007, we are giving all Limelight and dance students aged Year 4 and above the opportunity to take part, as we will once again dance through the streets of Spalding to thousands of visitors. To be involved in Carnival 2009 you need to be available on the day from 11am - 5pm. We are also holding two rehearsals when you will learn the choreography. However you only need to attend one of these rehearsals - whichever one suits you best! These will take place on Monday April 6th and Thursday April 16th from 1pm - 4pm at the Polka Dot Academy. |

| Our Limelight Youth Groups have grown tremendously aver the past 4 year... we started off in the first session with one group of 12 youngsters and now we run 5 groups full of members over Monday and Tuesday evenings with over 218 people involved in total!! All the groups love the activities in the sessions and really enjoy working towards productions. Performances are always of a high standard and get great feedback from the public. | LIMELIGHT AWARDED GRANT FROM YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES FUND | 20/09/2007 |
| Members of our very own Youth Theatre - Limelight, are not just the most talented, creative and friendly children you could ever wish to meet, they are also the most dedicated, hard working and enthusiastic group too! And their hard work has given them financial help as they succeeded in a funding bid to create a brand new dance company within South Holland. What's more, the company will be run and managed by Limelight members who will make all the decisions and create a brand new dance show. Limelight has elected a commitee to run the project, and the show will be staged in 2008. There will also be the opportunity to visit London and take part in a dance show on a West End stage. What's more it will be FREE to all those that take part!!! The funding was awarded by the Youth Opportunities Fund, which provides financial help to youngsters with new and exciting ventures. More details will follow shortly but if you are a budding dancer or fancy giving dance a try then contact us and we'll be in touch soon. |

| Following an amazing summer during which more than 450 children participated in one of our West End Workshops throughout the country, we are pleased to announce details of our October holiday schools, designed to give children aged 8 - 16 a real insight into the world of musical theatre. Each workshop gives children the opportunity to act, sing and dance their way to a performance for friends and family based on a well known West End musical.
